Edinburgh bars offer freshly made cocktails delivered straight to your home

Leading bars in Edinburgh have launched a new service offering drinks, including cocktails made by bartenders, for delivery straight to people’s homes.

Edinburgh Booze Delivery has been spearheaded by Iain McPherson, co-owner of Panda & Sons (pictured), Hoot the Redeemer and Nauticus, with a website listing cocktails available from his different bars.

With plans to add more bars to the line-up, it was set up to support local businesses and create jobs, primarily for people from the hospitality sector.

It is offering cocktails, batched up for two serves, including Panda & Sons’ Oaxacan Dad Cocktail, made with Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, jasmine-infused rosé wine and pineapple-infused Disaronno, and Hoot the Redeemer’s pale blue Corpse Reviver No. Blue made with gin, blue curaçao, lemon juice and white fortified wine.

There are also spirits available, from major brands to Panda & Sons’ own Gin Gin Panda created with That Boutique-y Gin Company, as well as wines, beers, mixers and snacks.

From the local area, it is initially stocking Pilot, Stewart, Barney’s and Bellfield beers as well as Leith’s Electric Spirit Co and Port of Leith Distillery, with more to come.

The drinks can either be collected from a pick-up point in Edinburgh or delivered, with no contact, to homes across the city.

Speaking to The Scotsman, Iain said: “We need to think beyond lockdown. The government won’t be able to support us forever and I want to start something that can act as a proven model, something that works that other cities can replicate too.

“We’re calling it the ‘pandemonium’ business model – something that will reignite the local hospitality economy for success going forward.”

It follows similar services in other cities including London where bars such as Callooh Callay, The Cocktail Trading Co and Happiness Forgets have been offering cocktails and other products for delivery within a certain radius.

Several London bars including Three Sheets, Scout and Tayēr + Elementary have also partnered online retailer Shop Cuvée to offer bottles of selected cocktails from their menus. Leading bartenders have also worked with Seven Tails Distillers to create bottled twists on a classic Sazerac to raise money for Refuge Against Domestic Violence.
