Bars in Gretna Green and Glasgow among best in Scottish Hotel Awards

The winning bars have been announced as part of the annual Scottish Hotel Awards, with the Bar & Lounge at Smiths Hotel in Gretna Green named Scotland’s best hotel cocktail bar.

With categories across all aspects of the hotel industry, the awards were announced online via Facebook on Sunday (26 April) rather than the originally scheduled ceremony at Edinburgh’s Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa.

The national award for best bar went to Champagne Central (pictured) at Grand Central Hotel Glasgow while Juniper at Hotel Indigo Edinburgh was named best gin bar. Another Edinburgh hotel, The Raeburn in Stockbridge, won the national Bar Diner Award.

Dornoch Castle Hotel in Sutherland picked up the award for best whisky bar while Glenfinnan House Hotel in Inverness-shire collected the national bar food award.

Winners of the awards’ People of Excellence categories included Grant Montgomery at Citizen M Glasgow who was named bar manager of the year.

Ruben Gonçalves at The Glasshouse in Edinburgh, home to The Snug bar, won the award for drinks specialist for the second year running, while Baba Restaurant and Bar at Kimpton Charlotte Square Edinburgh won best food and beverage team.
