Bars across the UK are offering special cocktails and menus to help raise funds to support Bolivian quinoa farmers as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.
From now until 15 March, they are offering three signature cocktails made with products from the Fair range of spirits and liqueurs, such as a version of an Espresso Martini using Fair Quinoa Vodka and Fair Cafe liqueur. See below for a list of participating bars and a recipe.
The bars are supporting the fundraiser by pledging to give £1 per cocktail sold to the cause. The campaign has been put together by the Fair Drinks team in collaboration with the brand’s UK distributor Mangrove.
The funds will help bring more small, grassroots farmers in Bolivia together to share organic farming techniques and support each other. They are working together to ensure the sustainability of their land for future generations to continue to grow and produce. They apply traditional techniques which are free from the pesticides found at the huge agri-businesses they compete against.
Paul Bungener, brand ambassador for Fair Drinks, said: “Ensuring that our producers are given a fair deal is at the heart of everything we do and with this promotion we wanted to take that a step further and raise awareness and some money to support our suppliers in Bolivia. Their dedication to producing the best quinoa in the world, Quinoa Real, is something we respect and admire. It’s easy to do your bit to support them: just order and enjoy a Fair cocktail this March.”
As well as the vodka and coffee liqueur, the Fair Drinks range includes Juniper Gin, Extra Old Rum, Muscovado Rum, Goji Liqueur, Kumquat Liqueur, Cacao Liqueur, Fair Açai Liqueur and Pomegranate Liqueur. They are all made with products that are sourced ethically and sustainably.
